More About Us

Zimbabwe KidZ, a non-profit volunteer organization composed of three congregations and one fellowship in the Presbytery of Denver, was formed to assist the Presbytery of Zimbabwe operate 12 primary/secondary schools.

At one time Zimbabwe had the highest literacy rate in Africa; now with a very high unemployment rate, people do not have the finances to pay school fees or support a church. This has had a negative impact on the education of children in this country that has always placed an emphasis on education.

When the Partnership was formed, the mission was to provide basic school supplies, textbooks, and furniture for the schools. Then we learned several schools and churches that want a preschool do not have a source of clean water—merely a hole in the ground from which water is taken.

We felt clean water is a greater need than school supplies and redirected our mission to providing a clean water source to those schools and churches.

Matthew 10:42 “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.”

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise resources to provide clean water at schools that need it, and at Presbyterian churches that want a preschool and are required by the government to have a source of clean water.

The cost of a well—approximately $10,000 to $12,000 US dollars–depends on the depth needed to have an adequate flow of water, the type of pump to be used as well as gasoline expense for traveling to the location. In areas where there is little or no electricity, solar panels provide electricity to pump the water.
